RESNA Student Design Challenge & Developers' Showcase

As part of the RESNA 2022 Conference, the Student Design Challenge and the Developers’ Showcase programs are open to receive submissions until April 15 and May 16, respectively.

The RESNA Student Design Challenge (SDC) is an annual competition held in conjunction with RESNA’s annual conference that showcases created and innovated assistive technology designs that help people with disabilities function more independently.

Student teams, comprised of undergraduate and masters-level graduate students currently enrolled in a college or university, representing a wide range of disciplines including mechanical, electrical, and biomedical engineering; computer information science; architecture; and physical and occupational therapy are invited to participate.

Upon submission to the SDC, entries are judged on originality, quality of design, and usefulness to persons with disabilities.

From the many submissions, finalist teams will be chosen to showcase their products and designs at RESNA’s annual conference.

Finalist teams win a free, one-year student membership to RESNA (The Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America). The top finalist teams will receive cash prizes and will be featured on RESNA’s Student Design Challenge website.

Awarded prizes are:

o First place team: $1,000

o Second place team: $700

o Third Place team: $300
